Welcome to your USA Club

We are glad to have you, and hope you will participate in and contribute to many club activities to get the most out of your membership. We have gathered information to help you use the USA club site, communicate and understand club SOP as well as provide excellent reference materials that our club members have produced.

For questions, comments or concerns about Club activities, contact someone on the Board of Directors.

Glider scheduling and club email

Once your application for club membership has been accepted and you have paid the initial fee and dues, you will get an email inviting you to join the glider scheduling site.   You’ll see this link also under “Flight Info” on our website.

Put in your phone number(s), emergency contact information, and if you’re already a glider pilot enter your glider rating and licence number and flight review information.

You’ll begin receiving club emails.  To send emails to the club or individuals, go to Mass Email on the scheduling site.  Directory Page will give you membership list.

Scheduling is straightforward on the site.  The scheduling program enforces scheduling limitations in the FORs.

Flight rules

Go to Flight Operating Rules first for a wealth of information that you need for flying club sailplanes.

Instruction and flight checkouts

If you have a private pilot glider license, contact an instructor to schedule a proficiency checkout flight, or for some training if it’s been a while since you flew a glider.

If you need instruction toward a private pilot glider license, the chief flight instructor (Lynn Alley 801-979-8482) will help you find an instructor.

Airport orientations

You will need detailed information from the web pages below for your initial checkout in club aircraft at whatever site(s) you intend to use.  You will also find these from our home page under the Airports menu.

Glider tows

Tows in Utah are usually done by volunteers connected with tow planes owned by individuals, associations or businesses, not our club.  See Tow Operations. You’ll see this link also under “Flight Info” on our website.

If your soaring plans change and you need to re-schedule or cancel a flight, let the tow pilot or tow organizer know as soon as possible. In some cases tow pilots drive a great distance in order to supply you with the tow. Please be respectful of their time and schedule by making your changes clear to them.

Oxygen

The club sailplanes each have oxygen systems. Refill bottles are available at each of our airports. If you don’t know how to safely fill the bottle ask for help! At Morgan County, club oxygen is available at Lynn Alley’s hanger.

Soar!

Do not hesitate to ask questions or seek advice from other club members, instructors and pilots at any of our airports.  You will find everyone willing to help or answer your questions.
