Submission to USA
Each time you purchase or update insurance you must submit initiate insurance data, at least 48 hrs before your reservation or 48 hrs before you fly, whichever is earlier. If you don’t get it in on time, cancel your flight.
If you are moving a glider, you can submit it any time before you move the glider.
Who needs coverage?
Until you have been a Full or Associate member for five full seasons (not necessarily continuous), you are required to hold non-owned (renter’s) insurance with aircraft (hull) damage coverage of $40K.
Limited members must also hold this insurance.
This coverage can be inexpensive because the Association provides your liability insurance and because you can get coverage for any period: year, month, week, day.
Where do I get it?
Anywhere you want. We know of only one company offering insurance for shorter periods (monthly, weekly, daily): skywatch.ai. At the bottom of Initiate Insurance we go through the application process and how to get the best rates. For monthly insurance the cost should be around $50, but it will vary with your age, experience and incidents.
Until we learn more about it, don’t worry about putting USA as a named insured, but please do if it’s easy for you.
For which activities do I need insurance?
It must be active whenever you move a club glider or fly in a club glider whether or not you are pilot-in-command or take the controls. By “move” we mean any kind of pushing, pulling a glider to get it to move.
Fines
Expect some for not following these instructions.
How to apply to Skywatch

_______________________________
Notice that “Glider” is not listed. Leave it at “Single engine Land”. Gliders are included as you can see under “Aircraft Limitations’. They told us verbally that racing is not covered, so you can’t fly club gliders in Nephi events with this insurance.

__________
Because the club provides $1M liability coverage, and standard medical coverage, choose the lowest coverage everywhere except “Liability coverage for damage to non-owned aircraft”. Set it at the required coverage set by the board.
You won’t pay a deductible reimbursement. But you can’t leave “Deductible Reimbursement” at zero, so choose the lowest amount.
